Monte Mayor Golf and Country Club

If you’re a fan of ‘Mountain Golf’ Monte Mayor will suit you down to a tee… Considered one of the toughest courses in Spain, if not Europe, this 18-hole course was opened in 1989, designed by José Cancedo and is set in a residential estate in the mountains of Benahávis, between the popular tourist towns of Marbella and Estepona.

Changes in elevation, strong winds, steep hillsides, deep gorges, streams and ravines all play a part in ensuring your round of golf isn’t an easy one. You certainly need balls to play here – and plenty of them! Visitors return to Monte Mayor year after year, in an attempt to finally conquer its wealth of hazards though few succeed.

HANDY HINTS:

If you’re willing to take on this precarious course, watch out for the 3rd, par-3 – it´s downhill and surrounded by vegetation and chasms. The 4th, par-5 is a risk-and-reward hole.

Facilities:

Clubs hire, buggies, hand cart hire, club house bar and restaurant.

Requirements:

Handicap Limit: Men 28, ladies 36. Soft spikes only.
