El Paraiso Golf Club

The coast offers a multitude of new and exciting golf courses but if you fancy playing somewhere more traditional and well-established, El Paraiso Golf Club will be right up your street. Designed by South African professional golfer, Gary PlayerEl Paraiso was opened in 1973 and is one of the oldest courses on the Costa del Sol.

For over twenty years it has been something of a Mecca for golf lovers. And whether you’re a low handicap or just want to enjoy a round of golf on your holiday, the course offers something for all ages and abilities, as well as an exciting challenge.

The setting is incomparable – lush fairways are punctuated by meandering streams, flanked by palm trees and an abundance of exotic fauna, including oleander, jacaranda and mimosas. Its lakes provide a home for a number of water birds – and golf balls of the unwary!

The layout of the course through this beautiful scenery provides an enjoyable test which is also equally fair, challenging and rewarding for golfers of all abilities. El Paraiso presents generous easy walking fairways set amongst palms and pines, oleanders and olives with meandering streams and two magnificent lakes.

The picturesque par 5 sixth is a signature hole that offers a birdie opportunity for those who miss the lake, while the ninth and eighteenth both provide stern tests for those wishing to finish each nine with a par 4. The par 71 course stretches from 4,998 meters for the ladies to 6,131 meters from the championship tees and with the yellow ‘tees of the day’ offering a challenging 5,912 meters

HANDY HINTS:

Signature Hole: The 6th hole is considered the best on the course. It’s a dogleg left par-5 with a number of different holes to choose from.

Your drive has to be accurate to avoid two well-positioned bunkers and your second shot must favour the left centre of the fairway in order to miss the lake that catches any wayward ball. Your approach needs to be accurate to give you any chance of that elusive birdie.
